What is Minzani?
Minzani is a simple cash-book, budget, and audit-trail tool for small and medium organizations — a duka, a salon, a transport SACCO, an NGO, a small trading company, or a school's finance office. It replaces a paper notebook or a shared spreadsheet with one place to record money in and out, track spending against a budget, and produce reports you can hand to a bank, a board, or an external auditor. It's built to be simpler than full accounting software, and to work well on an ordinary Android phone over patchy data. Throughout Minzani, "business" is used loosely for whatever organization you're using it for — the word appears in field labels and settings, but there's nothing business-specific about what it actually tracks.
Who is Minzani for?
Anyone connected to a subscribed business or institution: the owner, a bookkeeper or accountant, a bursar, or someone who just needs to view the numbers. Every account belongs to one or more specific businesses — one never sees another's data — and each role only sees what's relevant to it (see "What are the different team roles?" below).
How do I create a business account?
From the login page, click Create a business account. Fill in your business name, your full name, your email, and choose a password — then submit. You're signed in immediately and taken to a short setup checklist for your new business. A phone number is optional, for your own records only.
Do I need an email address to sign up?
Yes, for the business owner creating the account — it's how Minzani sends your verification link, password resets, and any important account or billing notices. We'll ask you to confirm it right after signup, though nothing is blocked while you do. Teammates you invite later are different: an Owner/Admin can add them with just a name, no email required (see "What if my teammate doesn't have an email?" in Team & Roles).
What happens right after I create my account?
Your business is created with a free 2-month trial and ten common expense categories already set up (Rent, Utilities, Salaries & Wages, and so on — see the Ledger section). You land on a short optional checklist: review your categories, add an item to track (if you sell physical stock), and invite your team — skip any of these and come back later from your dashboard.
How do I log in?
On the login page, enter your username or email — whichever you actually remember — plus your password. Both work interchangeably, which matters if your only login detail is a system-generated username you were given once (see "What if my teammate doesn't have an email?" in Team & Roles). A phone number on file is for contact purposes only and can't be used to log in.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
If you have an email on file, click Forgot password? on the login page and follow the reset link sent to you. If you don't have an email on file, ask your business's Owner/Admin to reset it for you from the Team page — they'll generate a new one-time password to show or hand to you, the same way your original login was created.
How do I change my password?
From your profile menu, choose Change password, enter your current password and your new one twice. If you were given a one-time password when your account was created (see Team & Roles), you'll be asked to set your own permanent password the first time you log in, before you can do anything else. Changing your password automatically signs you out of any other device you're logged in on. For two-factor authentication and more, see the Security Settings section.
What are the different team roles?
Owner/Admin has full control — the ledger, budget, team, settings, billing, and the Activity Log. Bookkeeper and Accountant (the same permission level under two titles) can record and edit their own entries and confirm deposits or expenditures other than their own. Bursar can record and edit entries too, but can never confirm or approve one, even someone else's. Viewer can see everything but can't add or change anything. See the Team & Roles section for the full breakdown.
Can another business see my data?
No. Every business's ledger, budget, team, and documents are completely separate from every other business on Minzani — there is no shared view across businesses. The one exception is Minzani's own platform administrator, who can see aggregate statistics for a business (counts and totals, for support and platform-health purposes) but never individual ledger entries, budget line items, categorized amounts, uploaded documents, or team member identities — and cannot create, edit, or delete anything on your business's behalf through the app. Any change made directly through platform administration tools is on the record, the same way every other change in Minzani is.
